Perry is Perry is a Chicago native born to Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. Perry played a lead role in the drama's nine episodes from 2016 on ABC's drama The Family. Her father played her on The ABC show Scandal. The actress was also featured on the CBS show The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon as a version younger Mary Cooper, Sheldon Cooper's mother. Despite the fact that she has a connection with her family to the character she got the role via an audition.
