Perry is Perry is a Chicago native born to Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. Her first TV roles were two appearances in the role of Jackie Harris (as seen in flashback) in the ABC sitcom Roseanne which was played by her mother. But her parents would not permit her to perform until she reached the age of adulthood because of the effects stress would be able to have on their daughter. Perry she was timid to perform in the school, began performing at Northwestern University because she wanted to make new friends. Perry was a graduate of Boston University, moved into New York in search of TV roles. Perry was able to land small roles in shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent. However, homesickness drove her to California for theater roles. Perry starred with her mother in The Other Place at Broadway the previous year. Perry was in the show with her father Kevin McKidd and Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize winning drama Anna Christie in the year 2015 at The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble, West Los Angeles. Perry played a lead role in the drama's nine episodes from 2016 on ABC's drama The Family. Her father played her on The ABC show Scandal. The actress was also featured on the CBS show The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon as a version younger Mary Cooper, Sheldon Cooper's mother. Despite the fact that she has a connection with her family to the character she got the role via an audition.
