Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At age 27 he began his studies at the National Theatre School of Denmark at which he was graduated in the year 1995. Apart from his performance in the drama series "The Killing which he was a part of, he also appeared on Borgen III, a Danish drama series. He also played the lead part in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He played the president of Russia in House of Cards, an American television series. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his performance in Danish television drama Herrens Veje. This series was telecast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019. He has claimed that he and his brother first began learning English through listening to Monty Python records and learning the sketches from the comedy show.
